MIDNIGHT!/ Monday, July 19, 2010

Been busybusybusy and tired out the past weekend! I think I really have short term memory these days..that or i'm too dependent on my hp calender. -.-

KOP on friday at bedok reservoir together with siti and dickson. It has to be shortest KOP i've ever conducted! KOP that day was to be 2h, but the students came late and by the time they'd settled down we were only left with 1.5h. Then we had to do introduction and minus the packing up think I reckon they only had 30mins of water time. I spent even lesser time on water because I brought one of the kids up he said he had an infection and didnt want to paddle anymore. Dinner at cafe cartel where I had some hotplate food. They dont serve garlic butter there. ): I had a super filling meal there though. Headed to the helix bridge and we wanted to explore the marina bay sands after dinner but it was pretty late then so we went off.

Serene's 21st party on saturday! It was an early birthday celebration and she held her party at pitshop cafe. I was supposed to help her out at 1pm but then I went late! =x Was shopping for her birthday card. Heh. But I think the card we got for her is nice!! And lw is so sweet she made a video for her! I hope serene enjoyed her party! Bascially we just played different games over at the cafe..there's afew nice games we played. I remember the bone game which I dunno what it's called and the find the mine game. The grab the bone game is like heartattack and it's quite exciting to play. Basically it's a brainless game but when you have all ladies playing that it can be quite fun watching people anyhow grabbing the bone and fighting for the last bone. After her party yt lw shir ari serene and I were supposed to hang out, but I had to leave for a while to attend a briefing at kallang wv. Joined them back after the briefing, and we went to bigO for cakes. We ordered 4pieces cake and when it came there was candles on it so I thought we were all celebrating serene's birthday again. However, it turned out that they were celebrating my very very belated birthday!!! So sweet of them to surprise me!!! It was totally unexpected. Thankyou ladies!!! I'm very touched and appreciated what you guys did! :D My birthday was like 3months ago but they still celebrated for me because we didnt have a proper celebration! I'll try and use the makeup set! Haa.

Woke up very early on sunday morning, at 5am, to help out with the big carnival at marinabay. Had only 4h of sleep the night before so I felt really tired! We had to report to kallang at 6am, and thank God dickson gave me a lift there. Alot of people dont know how to get to kallang wv it seems. Even taxi drivers have no idea where it is. At the carpark some stranger asked us how to get there and since we were going the same way I just asked him to join us. Clara's taxi driver didnt know where it was either. Anyway we all had to paddle and reach the marinabay area by 8am, to get ready to welcome the PM, who was the GOH for this event. I was in group1 and we had to hold up some banner which states that we love Singapore. Then everyone had to do some paddlesalute thingy to welcome him. Hmm. That over, we paddled around that area and then headed back to kallang. The area is still under some construction though so it's not exactly completed yet. It was a very nice weather to paddle around though. There was no rain but it was cloudy! Sent the kayaks back to changi/pasir ris then rushed down to school for training. We were supposed to have friendlies with SIM but they ps in the end! -.- So we had normal training and played a game with RT towards the end after the lightning warning was over. Having woke up so early in the morning I was so tired at night I ko-ed straightaway after I reached home.

And that sums up my packed weekend.

Met up with kenneth and wynee at cityhall today for dinner! We went capitol building's magic wok. They serve thai cuisine there. The food was okay and prices affordable too. I havent seen kenneth for ages! He changed his hairstyle abit but he still doesnt eat vegetables! Haa. Unfortunately, dinner was pretty short, because I had to rush off for training. =x I'll wait for the next odac bbq that he's going to plan so we can all meet up again! (:

CP training. I managed to hit more laps today for training, but was very frustrated with my ball throwing. So irritating. Sometimes I get it, but most of the time I dont. Played 1.5 games today but I felt they were so horrible. I didnt sub for the first full game because there was no chaser around and I think I did a terrible job. My entire face was flushed at the end and I could feel myself emitting alot of heat. That and my shots werent converted to goals at all, except for 1 of them. I managed to paddleblock a ball from weining but I didnt convert that shot. That plus I committed a severe paddle-to-hand foul against her. Crap. I totally zham her hand. Zzz. And it feels like we didnt communicate much either we were playing the game as an individual, not as a team.

I had the opportunity to go universal studios foc because of auwp. It was a social event arranged for all of us! My first visit there! We could actually exchange for a $5 meal voucher and a $5 retail voucher inside. A pity the main roller coaster ride wasnt open. There doesnt seem to be alot of rides though. But everywhere is very pretty we could take alot of pictures!!! (: Of course the first thing I did was to take a picture with my eyecandy. Hahaha.

Been busy the past week with the Asian University Waterpolo Championship! It's been a fulfilling experience, interacting with the different players and people from different countries. I was the liaison officer for the china team from Peking University Founder Technology College. There was another liaison officer following the china team, xiaodi. Altogether there were 26 participants, inclusive of the coach and team manager. The china ladies team emerged 1st runner up while the guys team came in 4th for this . I hope the china peeps had enjoyed their stay in singapore! It was awkard picking them up at the airport on the first day though. I felt slightly intimated then because most of them were taller than me and bigger size too! Now I understand what lizard meant when she said we're too small size already. We really am. Anyway, after a day or 2, they warmed up to me and we didnt have much of a communication problem. I didnt exactly bring them around the island, but they did visit the merlion and orchard road. I dont remember everybody's name, but i'll definitely remember their faces! And I was so used to speaking chinese already it's gonna take some time to switch back to speaking english!

The china team!

The ladies final. It was really a tough fight, where the china team played against the uzbekistan team. The china team lost by a point, and the coach was red carded and sent off by the ref. Probably the coach had felt that the ref wasn't calling the foul and got very agitated. This is the first time I've seen him rebuke the ref! Even after he was sent off the playing area, he continued to give instructions to the players. -.- During the preliminary round, the china team had won the uzbekistan team by a point, where a last second goal by the china keeper sealed the win. The preliminary match was exciting too, because it was point for point and one could really see the effort both teams were putting in. Both teams deserve to win. For the finals though, it was the uzbekistan team who won by a point. And I didnt know about the existence of Uzbekistan until this competition! =x My geography totally sucks. Bleh.

China players at the starting line.

The ladies champion.

On the guys side, the most interesting match had to be the indonesia team vesus the pakistan team. The pakistan team was newly formed, and most of them had joined the competition so that they would have the chance to visit Singapore. They're really a happening group of people I feel! Afew of them only learnt water polo a few weeks before the competition?! But i'm very sure they've enjoyed themselves this competition. And it was really entertaining to watch this match, because the pakistan team was just too funny! One of the players, not the goalkeeper actually held the ball with both hands, which isnt allowed. And they hardly had the opportunity to bring the ball up to half court, because they only had afew players who could swim well. The spectators on grandstand were all cheering for the pakistan team when they scored! And pakistan actually managed 2goals for the mathc. They deserve the most entertaining team award!

The most disappointing team award has to go to the SMU team. They didnt turn up to play against Waseda, so I dont understand how the article in the singaporesports website came about (read previous post) SMU vs WU was supposed to be played at 3.20pm on sunday. At 3.20pm, they didnt even have a full team! It was decided that it would be a walkover then. SMU was disqualified. SMU side managed to have form a team with a mixture of players and they even requested for warmup time. When the game started, there was only one ref because the other ref was playing for SMU. The game was stopped after the first quarter by the ref, after some fighting happening inside the pool. I have no idea how the 5-0 score came about. That SMU didnt turn up definitely doesnt reflect nicely on singapore.

The centre ball was held by this ball thing which the officals would pull down when the game started.

The guys final. It was Waseda University vs Korea National Sport University. Both th
e korea and japan teams were hot favourites to top their groups in the preliminary round, and they both did. The first 3 quarters were very close, and the korea team were leading by a point for the first half. At the last quarter though, the japan team managed to pull open the goal difference and won the game 13-10! Wheee! I was supporting the japan team all throughout because my eyecandy is in there! He got mvp too! (: But i heard that because the korea team lost, they're werent allowed to go out and enjoy their last night of stay in singapore.

That's my ec! No8. He was sent off for 20s for a foul.

The japanese team celebrating their win.

Closing ceremony. The NUS guys team came in third, after beating china in the 3rd/4th placing match. Quite abit of controversy in the match, because the china team felt that the refs were biased towards the singapore team. I can detect abit of biasness too.

Eyecandy! He got the most valuable player award! (:

Weldon was the one of the flag bearers for the closing ceremony.

Alvin was also a flagbearer!

The liaison officers. Beatrice the korea's LO is missing from the picture. Clockwise from top: wenxian-china LO (he replaced xiaodi who injured herself duri
ng day2 of the com), asuka-japan LO, lloyd-uzbekistan LO, lloyd-pakistan LO, joycelyn-china LO, siti-indonesia LO.

I dunno how to spell her name, but she's the team manager for the japan ladies team. I like their team shirt, so I swopped my teamNUS shirt with hers. Thank God I brought that shirt!

There was an appreciation dinner for all the heads of delegates on monday night, before the finals at Sun Bistro. Picture taken with the china assistant coach and the japan team managers!

Stayed at RH during this period, though I did go home on friday and saturday night. RH is newly renovated, so everything was almost new inside the room! I stayed at block 3, room 220 and the japan team was staying in the same block as me too! :D I wasnt used to the orientation of RH though. Got lost trying to look for my room and was lost again when I went back to siti's room to my room. -.- And watching so many waterpolo games made me feel like my ball catching got better during tuesday's training I dunno why. Haa. New training programme on tuesday which was more straining on my forearms. It's aching abit now.

Sunbistro screened the world cup finals match on monday morning and I went down to watch the match. Spain won the world cup 1-0. It's the first in history where spain won the eurpoean and world cup titles. It was a 10man netherlands vs a 11man spain, because of a red card sent off by the ref in the last few minutes of the extra time period. Spain managed to score a goal because of that. By then I recall being very sleepy! KO-ed straight after I went back to my room. The ref gave alot of yellow cards in the match! It feels likethe entire holland team and half the spain team got yellow-carded expect for the goalkeeper.

I watched despicable me with eunice on saturday night! My first time watching the 3D version! I think there's not much movie between the 3D and 2D version. Anyway the movie characters are very cute!
Haha. Hy made a minion for me! :D I'm gonna give it a name sometime soon! hehe. Ohh hy made a one-eye minion for eunice too!

my minion!

This is such an inaccurate post!

http://www.singaporesports.sg/News/tabid/60/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/1150/SMU-exits-with-pride.aspx

In the afternoon of Day 3 of the Asian Universities Waterpolo Championship held at the National University of Singapore on Sunday 11 July, Pakistani team, University of Management Sciences (LUMS) were once again handed a heavy drubbing from Universitas Indonesia (UI), falling 13-2.

Compared to the rest of the teams in the competition who were serious and competitive or at least looked the part, the Pakistani team from LUMS looked as though they were here just to have fun; with their players all relaxed and not too bothered about what the score line was. UI on the other hand were relentless as they strived to do the best that they could, dominating the match from start to end.

The match that followed pitted hot favourites Waseda University (WU) from Japan and the Singapore Management University (SMU). After previous results which saw WU hand out beatings to the other teams, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Peking University Founder Technology College (PUFTC), and likewise SMU’s convincing defeats to NTU and PUFTC, one would have presumed this match to be a whitewash in favour of the Japanese.

However, the local lads put up a valiant display to restrict their opponents to only five goals to lose 5-0 and actually seemed like a small victory for the Singaporeans. This 5-0 defeat was remarkable considering that SMU was playing the strongest team in their group and they had already been handed heavy defeats by the other weaker teams in the group.

Even the though the Japanese were obviously superior in all departments, SMU gave it everything they got and recorded what would be the lowest score line yet in the entire competition.

This result meant that SMU ended up in bottom spot with three defeats in a row while WU qualified for the semi-finals with three straight wins.

Went shopping with selina today and got Dad a Ralph Lauren polo top at $140! Expensive but birthdays only come once a year, so it's okay. (: We went to fareast after that to shop for her internship attire. She didnt get anything, though we spotted 2 potential pants. She's kiv-ing them because she wants to check out G2000 stuff. Dinner together with selina at fareast chicken rice stall, where I bumped into *gasps* hy and bf! Initially I didnt give it much thought. I thought hy was just meeting a guy friend for dinner, at most they were dating? Selina and I even sat on the same table with them and was chatting away. I forgot ronnie's name and it took me some time to recall how I knew him too! Alamak. Really have short term memory leh. Then then it was only after we left the chicken rice place and selina and I walked in front and when I happened to turn back that I saw both of them holding hands! *gasps* I was so shocked! And I was wondering why hy was so pretty she wore a skirt when she stood up so feminine and pretty! :D I should have known something was amiss then but aiyo too blur already! Hehe. And of course, i'm happy for her. (:

I had a sweet dream last night! I dreamt that I was surfing in my kayak in singapore waters, then we had to beach up at an isolated beach together with the other changi coaches. Somehow or another, wu zun was besides me and he asked me tenderly if I was sleepy, and told me I should rest. Then he took up and held my hands, as though he could read my mind that I was afraid. And he asked me to sleep on his shoulder and he rested his head on mine. So sweet right! The dream may sound stupid but still! Wahahaha. When I woke up in my dream wu zun was gone though! :( I couldnt find him when I wanted to ask for his contact number! Bleh. But the changi people knew I was together with him la. Hehe. :D
