Today marks the first day of cp championships at NTU. Blizzards had no matches on day1, but we headed down to NTU nonetheless to watch the matches and support our fellow NUS teams. Some of us went down in the morning and some came in the afternoon. I dunno why but it's been a tiring day, even though I only watched, not play, the matches. And it was nice of cheehong to come down and support our games! Thank you.As usual, the cp matches were always interesting and exciting. Matches that left a vivid impression in my mind included matches between NUS B and SP C, NUS A vs NP123, Redtide 1 vs Xiao Da Nan Hai...Our nus team B guys played on form and though they lost 2-3 to SP C in the end, it was a close match. It was a pleasure to watch them play and fight hard. Then came the match between NUS A and NP123. Probably motivated by the performance which NUS B put up, the NUS A guys were on form too and won their match 4-0! Good job guys! Between Redtide 1 and Xiao Da Nan Hai, luck was obviously on RT side! XDNH attempted so many shots but majority of their shots weren't converted to goals. Unfortunately, RT1 lost to them 1-2 in the end. In the woman's matches, it's the nteam players tiang goalpost day, except for lizard, whose shot went in. Shuwen tiang a ball during fast break, Gracie and Weining tianged too. In fact there was a substantial number of matches where people tiang-ed the goalpost during the games. Blizzards first game tomorrow, and we're gonna be playing against NUS High. Then we'll be playing against monsters in the evening. I actually feeling nervous/excited about the game against NUS High!! I could feel myself getting nervous/excited (i dunno what i'm feeling!) when I tried the visualise the gameplay. JIA YOU BLIZZARDS!!!

I'm tired today! I only slept for 4h yesterday night..came home late after try-outs yesterday and slept late too cos I was writing debriefs. I hope I have energy for training tonight! Urgh. I need to let my body rest more.I just attended Marco II tutorial and I was lost half way through. Sigh. And while I think my tutor is slightly charismatic, he doesn't provide good explanations for the tutorial questions.I want my bed.

I have a 5day week in school, but I predict I won't be dreading school on wednesdays even though I go to school just for an hour of public finance tutorial. This tutorial is by far the most interesting and engaging economics tutorial that I've ever attended. The tutor encourages discussion (as per every tutorial discussion) and probably because our class has exchange students from Sweden, I feel that the class is more engaged in discussions. There is no direct/correct answers that we copy from, unlike other econs tutorials. Rather, we discuss about the tutorial questions and exchange views. At the end of the day, we learnt not just about our own country or Sweden, but more about the module we're taking. Perhaps, it is still too early to judge, because it is only the first tutorial. Nonetheless, I know I'll look forward to next week's tutorial. Now that's learning (:It's alright to complain about an event that happened, what one has experienced and the problems faced etc. But one shouldn't judge people just because of an incident. It's really horrible to gossip/bitch about others or speculate about issues that will lead to no where. Feelings will be hurt, whether or not one knows the person. It's unfair to them too, much as we may mean no harm and are just talking. Humans are sensitive beings. So let's just not gossip bad things about others. Not easy, but we should try. Habits are hard to break, so once we start, we'll find it hard to stop. There's many more interesting conversations next to gossiping.I had a horrible nightmare yesterday night. I dreamt that I missed the last train home after cp training. Lizard sent us to the train station and the last station to pasir ris was 6mins away but when I made it up to the platform, the train had left. I guess that's just how my subconscious mind feels whenever cp training drags on beyond 11pm. I hope that won't happen in reality. :(

Zomg. Now I know why whenever I attend Our Atmosphere: A Chemical Perspective lectures, the lecture hall is filled up so quickly, especially the front few rows. The students, majority of whom come from China, run into the lecture theatre. Like really run!!! I'm totally shocked. But maybe, that's the attitude that we should have when attending lectures, instead of dozing off once in a while (even if it's once in a blue moon).

Today is a green day! Green tshirt, green adidas jacket, green bag. And there's going to be training later with my green team! Okay total randomness. Once again, time flies! It's already week 3 now and this semester students are apparently more hardworking! The library is more crowded relative to last semester! I predict that the library is going to going to get even more crowded during mid terms and reading week. Okay this semester I shall aim to keep up with my readings and tutorials and not let them pile up, which translates to spending more time in the library instead of slacking around at home. =xSo I diligently mugged in the libray yesterday till my head spinned and I decided I had enough for the day. I headed home, then went for a short run. And the 3.2km run felt really good. It's been a long time since I've felt that way; the feeling that I was running at my desired pace and feeling good throughout the run, not just towards the end. Now to maintain that kind of feeling during the run and not just feel that way only when running short distances. Kenny's my 'personal trainer' for my end of year standard chartered marathon! Okay I exaggerated. He merely 'planned' out for me how I should start training for the run now. And in his programme I see a 16km, 8km, 24km run in a week. ZOMG. So much running. But that's really part of training for a major run/marathon. And I suppose I've got to set my mind on training for this marathon. I didn't train enough for sundown marathon, hence the cui legs. I definitely don't wish for the same thing to happen again. The next few weeks are set to become busier, with nat champs starting this weekend and stretching for 3 weekends plus recruitment of freshies into cp (which translates to pool slots on wed and fri nights next to our tue and thur trainings). Discipline's the word, to balance between studies and exercising and trainings.Blizzards shall play well in this competition and meet our goals!

Army Half Marathon. The flag off timing was 0530h, but Meiying and I only started off at 0600h. I woke up late..my alarm clock totally failed to wake me up and I only woke up when mommy called me up at 0450h. =x So the run started and I completed my first 10km in around 1h 6min. I was aiming to complete my run under 2h 15min then..but then my final race timing is 02:25:34.55. Abit disappointing, although this timing is still my best for a 21km run. On average, I took 6min 54s to complete 1km. I really need to maintain my pace and not slow down too drastically during the latter part of the run. From 6min 40s per km to 7min 21s per km for my last 5km. Sigh. I need to run more!! Yet I'm worried about my legs. My left knee cap hurt after running and it persisted until monday (something which didn't occur during sundown). Then I had shin splints as well on my left knee! Yea, I'm giving my legs a rest by not running until friday. I feel really uncomfortable, unhealthy and fat not running until then though. After the run I had to rush for training which was friendlies with SIM! We won SIM 2-1!! (: It was a draw against them in the first half then Clara and Short contributed a goal each in the second half! Against redtide and blackcrooks, we lost though. Then it was video watching of our previous games until 7pm. I was so tired, I went home and slept early that night.I feel so tired suddenly. Yet school has only just started. In cp, I feel like I'm not progressing much. In fact I feel like I'm stagnant or dropping in my standard. I'm not sprinting as fast, I cant defend well, I'm not putting in goals. :( And I'm tired of having to organise gatherings. I'm making an effort but people are not replying my sms-es. It's hard to find a timing where everyone is free too. I shouldn't be working hard to please everyone. Readings are piling up too and I end up napping in the library when i'm supposed to be studying. Just not in the studying mood yet. JIA YOU JOYCELYN!!!

First day of school yesterday and my first lecture was at 8am. Sobs. I had to wake up so early! The crowded bus 95 was a reminder that school had started. I only managed to board the 3rd bus that came. So the first lecture came and went and I had to rush for my second lecture at arts. Then came lunch and I met Edwin for lunch. My lunch was supposed to be spaghetti from megabites but I spilled my food! Urgh. I wasted my food and I had to change out of my clothes into my training attire becuase I spilled my food on myself! zZz. My only consolation was that my lecture was at science instead of at arts. Then came the last lecture of the day and I found out that Weiliang is taking the same lecture as me! The lecture was abit dry though. It was only the first lecture for that module and already I dozed off halfway through. =x Okay I'll keep myself awake for the rest of his lectures! Since I ended school at 4pm and had 2h to spare before gym, I took a run around the school. So tiring! There's really alot of slopes around nus. One round around the school is probably 6km I reckon. Then came gym and training which left me flushed at the end after our games. It was a really tiring day!! I totally ko-ed after I reached home.On a random note, I'm very envious of those ang-mo females who can lift such heavy weights (almost twice the weights I lift) and yet their muscles ain't very big like mine but toned! I wanna have their toned muscles and strength! How do they do it man.

I don't really understand my friends very well. Sometimes I think I know, but then I would find out something new about them and I'll wonder how well I understand them. Then again if I understand them fully, I might as well be my friend. School's starting on tuesday but I'm down with fever + sore throat + flu + muscle ache. :( Sianed. It started out with muscle ache and sore throat this morning but now I have fever and flu too! Roars.

NTU Canoe Polo Invitational 2009. 080809. It was only a mini one day off competition where we would get to play with different girls cp team before the national champions later at the end of august. Yet, it was also an exciting competition for me. In total, 8 teams participated in this invitational; NTU Grads, NTU Kids, Devlin's, Titians, Bom Bom Pa, Redtide, Black Crooks and Blizzards. Out of the 7 games which blizzards played, we peobably only played well for 3 of the games. Off-form for the other games, especially in the match against titians. We wanted to win, but we lose to them 0-1. :( Nonetheless, this invitationals has been an enriching experience, next to gauging how we fared against the other teams. This competition was also a test of our stamina and endurance level, since we played alot of matches the entire day. It was really sweet when we drew with blackcrooks 1-1 for our final game. To top it off, the finals/3rd and 4th placing matches were so exciting! At our current blizzards level, we're still some way off from playing at that level. Nonetheless, as long as we train hard, I believe we can do it! The final few matches were really exciting. That's what happens with the power of national term players playing in different teams. After the draw against bc which boosted our morale, we stayed back to watch the remaining matches. Rt lost to Bom Bom Pa, but it was a well fought match. At the first half, both teams were scoring point for point. It was only in the second half where RT started to lag behind slightly. That said, RT played well! *thumbs up* Then there was the finals, where it was Bom Bom Pa against NTU Grads. Bom Bom Pa had already played 20mins prior to the finals and there was hardly any time to rest. Yet, they put up such a good match. Both teams fought hard and it was so exciting to see both teams play! After the second half, both teams were tied at 1-1. So it moved on to golden goal, where the format was 3-1-3. No goal was scored, so the game couldn't end and they moved on to another golden goal. Again, no goal was scored. You could see then, that both teams were starting to tire out. However, they still played hard! Once again, at the second golden goal, both teams didn't score any goal. Come the third golden goal and finally, NTU Grads scored. A very nice shot too! Good job NTU Grads. It was a game well played. (:And so, I bring away from this invitationals so much more experience and insights. Really, we should just played hard and put in our 100% during any game. I'm guilty of not putting in 100% of our effort during some games though. =x The first game against Devilins was well fought, we lost to them 0-2 when we thought we would get thrashed. Subsequent games weren't as good however. At some games, especially against Titians and NTU Grads (2nd game), I just played super badly. My energy level was super low and I failed to get the first balls. :( My fault I know, because I wasn't fully rested for the games today. At this time yesterday, I was playing mahjong at selina's house so I only had 3h of sleep. I was surviving on redbull and teh peng today! So there were bad games but there were also classic moments! Against NTU kids, whilst going for the first ball in the second half, I got the chance to experience what is known as the referee's ball. Both Kailing and I were snatching for the first ball after we both slided pass the ball so the referee (mary lek) called for the referee's ball. I kept screaming/shouting that the ball was mine but kailing just wouldn't let go of the ball! HMMPH. But anyway, none of us blizzards had experienced it before during the match, so we were quite confused on what we were supposed to do. I had a rough idea, but still clarified the doubt with the ref first. The rule goes like this: A referee’s ball will be declared when two or more players of opposing teams have one or more hands firmly on the ball, so that the players share possession of the ball for five (5) seconds. If initial contact is made directly with the ball illegal holding will only apply if either player uses the opposition for support. If the referee needs to stop the game, not during a break in play and where neither team is at fault (e.g. referee error, faulty goals, injury) and the referee cannot determine who had possession at the time of the whistle, the referee will restart the game with a referee’ s ball. A referees ball will be taken at the nearest point on the sideline to the incident. Where a referee’s ball is awarded for an incident that occurs between the six (6) metre line and the goal line, the referee’s ball will be held at the nearest six (6) metre line. Time-out applies. Two opposing players will line up at right angles to the sideline, on the side nearest their own goal line, near to the sideline where the situation occurred, one metre apart facing the referee. They will place their paddles on the water, but not between their kayaks and their hands on the deck of the kayak or on their paddle. All other players must be at least three (3) metres away from the point between the two players participating in the referees ball. The referee will throw the ball on the water between the players and blow the whistle to restart play. Both players must make an attempt for the ball with their hands as soon as it touches the water. The players must not play the ball before it hits the water. Infringement incurs a sanction. So yepp. Quite exciting snatching the ball from kailing! Woo~ I was so happy when I snatched the ball from her. But then I lost it again at the next pass. -.- I got it back after that though. Haha.Another classic moment got to be the game against black crooks. We played well and defended well and surprisingly, scored a goal in! Haa. After first half, the score was tied 0-0. Then the second half begun and Clara shot a ball in! Both bc and blizzards were shocked. Haa. Of course we started screaming and immediately you could see that blizzards' morales were much higher. At the same time, we also knew that we had to defend hard, so that bc wont score back. On the other hand, bc started to panic slightly and wanted to score back, since we had first scored against them. They played even more aggressively, but they didn't play very well, because they just wanted to get the goal back quickly. They were successful though. Shortly after our goal, bc scored a goal too. Sigh. And I had a chance to attempt a shot after that but my ball totally failed to obey my command. Sobs! My throw failed me when I best wanted it!!! Not very prepared when I released the ball from my hand so I guess that's why it went the wrong way I wanted it to go. Thankfully, we fought hard so we drew against bc. :)Yays. I finally got all my 5modules this sem! Sigh. It's getting harder and harder to bid though. My points account is so poor now! Sobs sobs. But thankfully, I managed to get everything! The last module I bid for was really lucky. The winning bid was the bid I placed for that mod!! So now I have a 4day week! Wheee. Wednesday's my free day! Aiya. Because of the national day holiday I have a make-up lecture at 6pm-8pm this thursday though! Sianed.Caught Harry Potter with Siti on thursday and wells, I find the storybook much better than the movie. Harry Potter and the Half-Blooded Prince is so much more exciting in words than in motion. This movie definitely isn't as good as previous harry potter movies. Definitely a disappointment.Crashed arts owk in sentosa on wednesday together with liting, steph, alvin and david. Thankfully there was no sun! But there's still UV rays la. Most of the games were repetitive to those which I had played as a freshie so I didn't really play them. Tag-of-War this year invovled lesser freshies though. A tough fight, that was. Oh. NTU Hall2 residents were also having their camp at sentosa so I saw yeehan and jiayin at Palawan after our beach games! And I've finally got to check out ION orchard, on Friday with liting. The basement shops are definitely more affordable (x many times) than the shops that are occupying the upper levels. There's many unique shops over at ION too. There's this shop that only sells havaianas slippers. Then there's Uniqlo too. And there's also those common shops like Zara, Mango and Topshop. So I went shopping again and got myself 2 tops when we were at ION!Ohh. I suppose my look hasn't changed much over the years. People still recognise me! Haha. I taught a half day vjc kop last tuesday and my junior (back in secondary school) recognised me. But I couldn't remember her face! =/ She was sec1 back then and I was in sec4. It's such a coincidence.
