AJC Prom night 07
Venue: Grand Copthorne Hotel Waterfront
Date: 11 dec
Way before the actual day...*grumbles* Being a girl has disadvantages, because of the hassle of having to look for a dress just for an evening. Hmmph. Guys can just grab anything to wear whereas a female has so many different types of dresses to choose from. Sure, we're spoilt for choices with so many variety, but they give us headaches as well!
But anyway, I had a lot of demands for my dress. Firstly, I only intended to spend approximately $150 for all my prom items, including my hair and makeup...so effectively, I was searching for a dress that would cost between $50-$70. Next, the dress had to be suitable for more one occasion. Otherwise, it would be a waste of money. My dress should also not reveal my chicken pox scars, which meant that tube and spaghetti dresses was out for me. Then of course, my dress has to look pleasing to the eyes, has a slimming effect etc.
And with those requirements in mind, I set of shopping for my dress! Sadly, I combed the entire vivocity with ariana and yiting without getting anything, although I did try on a few dresses. Then I went bugis with jiawen and meiying, saw this really nice dress at futurestate that I wanted to get but didn't, because it was the last piece and it wasn't in a good condition. So once again, I didn't get anything. I had fun that day though, save for the period of time when I went to the male fitting room to try my dress. *cries*
The following day, when I went shopping with Selina at city plaza, my mind kept thinking about the futurestate dress. I was particularly keen on that. And then, I asw another dress with a similar cutting as that of one forever 21 dress which I saw and liked as well! After some hesitation, persuasion from Sel as well as bargaining with the shopkeeper, I got that dress, at a cheap rate of $30! Wheee. It was then decided that I should sew sequins on my dress so that it would look nicer. Hence, in the remaining days that followed, I spent hours sewing, most of the time doing it on the bus. =x
As for my heels, I only managed to get them on Monday night, the day before prom, since I had been busy working. And I got the last piece that was available! =( It seems like I have an affinity with last pieces items. Both my dress and heels were the last piece available..I guess I have good taste! ;p It was also on Monday night where I added finished touches on my dress.
So in total, I spent close to $70 on my prom items, losing my umbrella during the shopping process.
On the actual day...I woke up close to noon, having slept late the night before. After bathing and some abs exercises, I met up with sel, yt and ari in town for our hair and make-up at hollywood secrets. It was super expensive!! I spent $80, just on my hair and make up. Arghh.

At least all of us looked pretty! (:
When all of us were ready, it was time to head to the prom venue. With the heavy rain and long taxi queue, I'm thankful that ari's mom and her mom's friend could sent all of us to the hotel. We reached the venue earlier than expected, so we hung around the lobby for a while before proceeding to level 4, where cocktail was served. After that, we went into the ballroom and had a 8 course dinner...
Some pictures taken that night! =)

Pretty rachel!

And I saw odacians at the lobby.

The class girls were all so pretty! xD

Weide commented that the clouds were pretty low..

Just for that night, the odac gentlemen.

Them too!

Oh yes, jiachang was also the gentleman odacian that night. haha. the braces odac club!

Yet another group of sweet girls! (:

And we took random pictures when there wasn't any programme going on..

Good friends!

Our president was crowned the prom king that night!
The after neath...There was a post-prom party at the riverwalk . Transport was provided from the hotel to the club, at a cost of $2. So odacians and 2706 went for that when prom ended. I was with odac for a while, taking pictures and laughing, then went to dance with the class. The music in the club was like blasting loud! Bad for the ears! When we got tired of dancing, some of them went home while others, who didn't want to waste $$$ for cab fare, walked to McDonalds. There, we crapped until the first train came.
Reaching home, I only had time to catch a short nap of 30 minutes, before I went to meet yb for work. Insufficient sleep, coupled with the walk in the rain, made me sick that night. =( I had to leave work early that day and take medicine for cold and fever that night. Hmmphh. So weak! Thankfully, I recovered the next day.

Odacians can be emo too.

Future models to be! ;p

We were all awake but fred at the wee hours in the morning.
