TJC duathlon 2007.
One runner, one biker.
Willpower, teamwork, eudurance, determination.

I'm liked promoting for this race that's already over. -.-"
No inspiration on how to start..

The race.
7 of us - eugene, abhay, rongjie, yun lin, siti, meiying and I- meet up at 0830 at the VS bus stop. Then we had to walk walk walk walk walk to reach the registration cum tranisiton point. The VS underpass was at the end of the running route, which means we walked approximately 1.5km before reaching the race venue, where we met anthony. It's far!

After registrating and waiting for some time, the race began! Since there were 4 teams, 4 of us - rongjie, abhay, yun lin and I- started the 3km run first. Rongjie was the fastest among us! I couldn't see him after the halfway turning point. He was 5th I think. And I think I was the 8th runner. Most of the the guys were running were in front! There's this fast rjc female runner though. I actually felt like giving up and to start walking after the halfway mark. The sunny weather futher drained my energy! But somehow, I just continued on.

Immediately after I ran to the transition point, I passed my tag to anthony who continued on with the biking component. Off he went! And then started the long wait. I never knew that cycling 15km would take so long! Anthony took around 40minutes to complete. And that's considered fast. From the 8th position, he overtook 4 people! So when he passed the tag to me, we were 4th! Cheers to ant! =)

After passing the tag to me, I started the second leg of the run. This time round, the run was easier since it was less sunny. At the halfway point, I collected the halfway tag again. The halfway tag? A rubber band. I wonder why it's a rubber band. Wouldn't it be easy to cheat if the halfway tag is a rubber band? Hmm.

I told myself in during the second 3km run that I wanted to catch up with the girl in front of me. As I kept running though, the distance within us remained the same and I got quite demoralised. Thankfully, after the halfway point, she slowed down and I maneged to close the gap and then caught up with her. So since I knew that the first and second runner was too far ahead for me to catch up, I slackened abit after I got slightly ahead of the girl. I didn't see the rationale in continuning with that pace then. I know it's wrong, but I don't know why I still did it. I knew though, that I could not allow the gap between us to become smaller. So I always ensured that I kept a distance and completed the race in third position.

Thanks to ant meiying siti and eugene for cheering me on at the last lap of the run! It really made a difference to my run. When they started cheering, I sprinted and didn't slow down my speed. I thought I didn't have the stamina to maintain that speed for that distance, but I did, because of the encouragements from you people! :) And of course, I knew God was cheering me on as well.

We collected our goodie bag after the race. They have so many sponsors! There's TYR, SPH magazines, Honsei, GNC, NEWater, Settlers Cafe, Beyond Xtreme, Red Bull, Tupperware, Florida's Natural, Munchy Foods, P.Osh, Mind Cafe and Mr Bean. TYR was thier official main sponsor, so we got a lot of their products, such as the nicely designed t-shirt, this 30% voucher, a 'wallet' and a bag. I have alot of vouchers as well! There's a 30% discount voucher from GNC, 50% off super soya milk, 2 complimentary kickboxing fitness class, $10 settlers cafe voucher and a $5 mind cafe voucher. And there's this instant cream of mushroom soup plus 2 green tea satchets plus a lemonade drink plus cookies. It's alot of things considering we paid $10 for it.

After the prize presentation ceremony, of which 3 rjc teams clinched the top 5 positions (1st, 2nd, 4th) and yjc was 4th, we went off for lunch at parkway parade. Along the way though, we saw a dead body. At least, I think it's a dead body which we saw. The police condoned off this area near the sea and placed a blue tent there. So since we see in the news that a blue tent equates to a dead body, that should be a concealed dead body we saw right? Scary!

Hmm. Seems like whenever I go for competition, after something happy happens, what follows would be something saddening. It was the case for the nus race and it's the same case for this competition. After the race, I saw xxx and I anknowledged xxx. But yet, xxx acted as though I didn't exist / xxx doesn't recognised me. I seemed to have gotten dao-ed! =( I felt so stupid then. And disappointed.

Maybe I was asking too much from God.
